 Protecting the privacy and dignity of every participant is a requirement of the NDIS Practice Standards under Rights and Responsibilities (Core Module 1). Caddens Care passionately support the human rights of all people we work with. We believe decision making, privacy and protecting personal information is a core right of every person.

Understanding your human rights is really important. You can have help from a friend or independent advocate to make sure your human rights are respected and upheld.

Caddens Care have policies and procedures that respect and protect participants’ personal privacy and dignity.

Participants are  informed of confidentiality policies as part of the Participant Welcome Pack and Intake process. We ask your consent before we collect your information and we store your information on a secure data management system with passwords and fire walls. Caddens Care staff will not share your information without your consent and we only share information when we need to. 

If you think the information we have about your is wrong, please contact your support worker or admin@caddenscare.com.au and request to have the wrong information corrected.

Sharing information without consent

When Caddens Care respond to an emergency, we may need to share your information without your consent when:

  • An injury, abuse, neglect or harm occurs and NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission needs to be notified
  • there is a criminal offence that means you, a child or young person is in danger or harmed
  • there is a workplace accident and we need to tell Safe Work NSW 
  • a staff member behaves in a way that is not safe and we need to tell an external government agency, like NSW Police

Sharing information without consent

Any information that could be used to identify you is called 'personal information'. Types of information this can include is your:


  • name
  • gender
  • age and date of birth
  • address
  • email
  • phone number
  • photograph


Information we collect about that is very personal could include:

  • your cultural background (including languages you speak) 
  • health and disability information 
  • information about your support and service needs criminal history 

Very personal information must be carefully  protected under the Privacy Act 1988.

 Caddens Care staff will always prioritise your privacy and confidentiality.  If your privacy is breached, Caddens Care will: 

  • Contain the breach, for example asking the wrong recipient of an email to delete your information;
  • Take action to remediate or reduce any risk of harm that could happen as a result of the breach
  • Tell you and the Information Commissioner where serious harm occurs or laws have been broken 
  • Review what happened put a plan in place to prevent future breaches.

Take action to remediate or reduce any risk of harm that could happen as a result of the breach. In some cases, Caddens Care will need to tell the Australian Information Commission  about the breach and they may need to investigate the steps we have taken to protect your information.
