Every NDIS participant has the right to be safe and receive quality services from service providers and workers.
Every worker at Caddens Care signs a Code of Conduct that sets out behaviour that protects your rights, such as being honest and listening to your decisions, and sets out behaviour that is not safe, such as not taking your money or ignoring your wishes.
You can learn more about your rights as an NDIS participant from https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/participants
There are National Standards for Disability Services (NSDS) that focus on a person centered approach and promote choice and control by people with disability. The six standards must form part of NDIS services and include:
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) makes it against the law to discriminate against a person because of their disability.
You have the right to access the same facilities and opportunities in society as any person. You can ask for help if you are treated unfairly or can't participate in an activity or access a building because of your disability.
The Australian Human Rights Commission can provide more information about what discrimination is and the steps you can take if you have been unfairly treated because of a disability.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with a Disability is sometimes shortened to CRPD.
CRPD is an agreement with other countries that Australia signed to make sure that disabled people have the same rights as everybody else. You can learn more about CRPD and disability rights at United Nations https://www.un.org/en/
Australia signed an agreement to protect and uphold the rights of all people under the ages of 18 years. Children's rights underpin the Child Safe Standards that Caddens Care relies on to make our work with children safe, respectful and collaborative. The protection of children and their right to be safe, free from harm and participate meaningfully in decisions that affect them is a core belief of Caddens Care.
You can read more about the rights of children at United Nations https://www.un.org/en/global-issues/children and Australian Human Rights Commission https://humanrights.gov.au/our-work/childrens-rights/about-childrens-rights
At Caddens Care we work with you to provide safe, quality and respectful services.
We ask all of our participants to be respectful and work together to reduce any risks to you, staff or the community. Caddens Care will ask for a copy of your NDIS Plan to ensure we understand your needs and goals, however you do not need to provide a copy if you do not wish to.
Caddens Care will work out a service agreement with you where we agree to the costs for our services based on the standard NDIS Pricing Guidelines. You are responsible for scheduling services and ensuring invoices are paid when services are delivered.
